South Carolina commitment shuts down recruitment

On Tuesday, South Carolina football commitment Keenan Britt made a major announcement regarding his recruitment. The linebacker/EDGE prospect from Oxford, Alabama told Rivals’ Sam Spiegelman that he is shutting down his recruitment. He has been committed to the Gamecocks since last August.
According to Spiegelman’s report, Britt called himself “100-percent committed.” He will not take any more visits other than ones to South Carolina. Previously, he had official visits scheduled to Florida and Oklahoma State, too. Those trips to Gainesville and Stillwater will not happen. Instead, Britt will take one official visit to Columbia the weekend of June 6th.

As a rising senior, Britt has made two All-State teams in Alabama already. For his work at defensive end, he was a finalist for Alabama’s Lineman of the Year honor as a junior.
Though On3 lists him as an EDGE, the outlet ranks Britt as the No. 466 overall player in the country. He’s also No. 18 in Alabama and No. 48 nationally among On3’s EDGE prospects. The 3-star recruit holds 4-star designations from ESPN and Rivals.

The recruiting industry is split on Britt from a positional standpoint. On3 and ESPN rate him as an EDGE, while 247Sports and Rivals consider him a linebacker. South Carolina plans to play the talented defender as a linebacker. Listed at 6-0.5 and 215 pounds, he looks and moves more like a ‘backer. USC defensive coordinator Clayton White doesn’t mind letting his second-level players get after the quarterback, though, so Britt’s days rushing the passer might not be over completely.
Britt is one of five current commitments in South Carolina’s 21st-ranked 2026 class and the only one who plays linebacker.
