DMV area defensive back adds South Carolina offer

On Monday, most of the country was off from work for the Labor Day holiday. However, the South Carolina football coaching staff was busy dispensing a scholarship offer. In the evening, class of 2027 defensive back Kenaz Sullivan announced on social media that the Gamecocks had offered.
Nearly 20 other power conference programs have offered Sullivan, too. His recruitment has taken off a bit as of late, as most of those big-time offers have arrived since the start of spring ball.
Sullivan, a native of Stafford, Virginia, is yet another USC target from the DMV. Stafford is just 40 miles from Washington DC, and Sullivan continues the long line of prospects from that area who have caught South Carolina’s eye.
Shane Beamer has helped land double-digit players from the DMV and Virginia during his time as the Carolina head coach. The most recent, Richmond, Virginia offensive lineman Darius Gray, is a five-star prospect. Gray represents the third five-star from that part of the country to commit to play for Beamer and the Gamecocks.

As a player, Sullivan has some versatility in the defensive backfield. He has played corner (both inside and outside) and safety for his North Stafford team. Though he doesn’t have overwhelming positional size, Sullivan has grown since the start of his sophomore year and now measures 6-0, 180 pounds.
Sullivan has good speed and ball skills in coverage. He is a willing tackler and can be a physical player when the ball is in the air. Perhaps intriguing to special teams coordinator Joe DeCamillis, Sullivan has experience returning kicks and working on coverage units.
The Rivals Industry Ranking considers Sullivan to be the No. 394 player in the 2027 cycle. He’s also No. 41 nationally among safeties and No. 8 in Virginia, regardless of position.
