South Carolina priority target Landon Duckworth is down to just two schools in his recruitment. The class of 2026 four-star quarterback told On3’s Hayes Fawcett late on Wednesday night that his decision-making process is nearing its end and that he will commit either to the South Carolina Gamecocks or Auburn Tigers.

Duckworth, a product of Jackson High School in Alabama, was once committed to USC. He pledged his services to South Carolina back in August of 2023. However, he backed off from that decision last summer. The Gamecocks’ pursuit of the talented passer never wavered, however, keeping the program in his good graces.

For much of the winter and spring, South Carolina’s top competition for Duckworth seemed to be the Ole Miss Rebels. With him now appearing to eliminate Lane Kiffin’s team from the running, many around Columbia are optimistic about his chances of signing with the Gamecocks. Even on a national level, On3’s Steve Wiltfong and Pete Nakos recently put in RPM picks for Duckworth to Carolina.

Duckworth has already taken his official visits to both South Carolina and Auburn. He was in Columbia last weekend and Auburn the weekend prior. He was slated to take an OV to Florida State and then one to Ole Miss. With this latest announcement, he has canceled those trips to Tallahassee and Oxford.

Word from around the South Carolina program was that Duckworth’s visit to campus went very well. If the Gamecocks can seal the deal with the talented signal-caller, he will be the team’s highest-rated quarterback signee since Stephen Garcia in the class of 2007. It is worth noting, though, that immediately following Duckworth’s final two announcement, On3’s Steve Wiltfong reported the Alabama native will take an unofficial visit to in-state Auburn this weekend.

Landon Duckworth is the On3 industry ranking’s No. 61 overall prospect. He’s also No. 6 nationally among quarterbacks and No. 4 in Alabama, regardless of position.
