Fong Bomb: South Carolina predicted to land 4-star quarterback Landon Duckworth

South Carolina football’s top 2026 recruiting target at the quarterback position is 4-star Landon Duckworth. The talented Alabama native is a former Gamecock commitment who pledged his services to USC very early before backing off of that pledge to consider his options. Things could be coming full circle for Duckworth, however.
On Monday, On3’s Steve Wiltfong dropped a patented Fong Bomb, logging a prediction for Duckworth to wind up in South Carolina’s class of 2026 recruiting haul after all.
Carolina has battled Ole Miss at the top of Duckworth’s recruitment for some time. The Rebels seemed to have the edge, but the Gamecocks never stopped fighting. Florida State, Auburn, and North Carolina are also involved. Shane Beamer’s program has made him a major priority, even passing up the opportunity to push for other quarterbacks. Beamer and offensive coordinator Mike Shula have made it clear to Duckworth that they want him in garnet and black.

Duckworth is a very similar player to current Gamecock starter LaNorris Sellers, no doubt a major selling point in his recruitment. He’s not as thick as Sellers, but he is a big, athletic QB with a strong arm. He would fit right into the offensive system South Carolina expects to run in Shula’s first year at the helm.

Duckworth’s proficiencies both as a passer and a runner have him ranked highly by those in the recruiting industry. On3’s industry ranking considers Duckworth as the No. 61 overall player in the country. He is also No. 4 in the state of Alabama and No. 6 nationally among quarterbacks.
At 6-3 and 190 pounds, Duckworth already looks the part and has four official visits scheduled as he looks to find his college home. He took his first OV this past weekend to Auburn. He will be in Columbia this weekend before taking trips to Florida State and Ole Miss the next two. Duckworth has mentioned a desire to visit North Carolina, too, but nothing has been made official.
