Priority South Carolina football recruiting target Maxwell Hiller is one of the very best offensive linemen in the country in the 2027 recruiting class. The Pennsylvania native is a four-star prospect in five-star territory according to some rankings, and the big fella is high on the Gamecocks. On Wednesday, he released his list of top schools on social media, and, as expected, Shane Beamer’s team made the cut.

Joining South Carolina on Hiller’s list are the Penn State Nittany Lions, Maryland Terrapins, Ohio State Buckeyes, Tennessee Volunteers, Georgia Bulldogs, Alabama Crimson Tide, and Clemson Tigers. Previously, Hiller told GamecockCentral that the Gamecocks were a top school for him. Wednesday’s announcement certainly backs that up.

Hiller has visited South Carolina multiple times, but Clemson and Penn State remain huge factors in his recruitment. He has mentioned both Ohio State and Tennessee as teams high in his thinking, as well. Hiller recently picked up a top offensive lineman award at the Under Armour Future 50 camp.

A top schools list wasn’t the only Maxwell Hiller-related news on Wednesday. The Polynesian Bowl also announced Hiller as a 2026 Polynesian Bowl All-Star Game commitment. He is one of several South Carolina targets in the 2027 class to commit to the prestigious game.

On3’s industry ranking considers Hiller to be the No. 55 overall prospect in the 2027 cycle. He is also No. 2 nationally among interior offensive linemen and No. 3 in Pennsylvania. On3’s individual player rankings are even higher on Hiller, slotting him in as the No. 28 player in the country. His national positional rank and in-state standing in Pennsylvania remain unchanged at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively.
