South Carolina football offers another talented freshman QB
This spring, South Carolina football quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator Mike Shula has been busy scouting future classes. The Gamecocks have given out a handful of scholarship offers for quarterbacks in the 2027 and 2028 cycles. The latest came for Miami, Florida native Neimann Lawrence. Lawrence announced the offer on social media.
Lawrence, like the entire class of 2028, doesn’t have a ranking yet. However, many in the recruiting industry view him as one of the very best players in the country. On3’s Charles Power included Lawrence on his 2028 watch list, and his offer list reflects what college programs think of him. So far, he has picked up offers from South Carolina, Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, Miami, Florida State, Penn State, Auburn, Oregon, Tennessee, and just about every other major program in America. A top-5 positional ranking is likely in his future.

On film, it is easy to see why Lawrence is so highly regarded. Even as a true freshman, he played with supreme confidence and comfortability. In the pocket, it seems as if he has eyes in the back of his head, and even when rushers do get near, Lawrence is slippery and strong, a combination that makes him nearly impossible to bring down. And as a passer, he can make every throw. He can deliver the ball from the pocket, on the move, off-platform, across his body, and with or without touch.
Neimann also plays baseball, but it is hard to imagine his future anywhere but football.
Lawrence joins Wonderful Terrific “Champ” Monds IV as another 2028 quarterback with a South Carolina offer. With three more years before that class graduates high school, that list will grow.
