It is a big final recruiting weekend for South Carolina football, and as of Thursday, it has gotten even bigger. The Gamecocks have added one to their official visit list as in-state athlete Sequel Patterson announced on Thursday that he will be on campus this weekend. Patterson was a late addition to the weekend slate, bumping the OV count up to eight total players.

Patterson recently reclassified from the class of 2027 to the class of 2026. Upon doing so, On3’s Steve Wiltfong issued an RPM prediction for the Indian Land High School product to wind up wearing garnet and black. Earlier this week, Patterson trimmed his list of potential schools to three. South Carolina, Tennessee, and Georgia made the cut.

Ahead of his reclassification, On3’s industry ranking listed Patterson as the country’s No. 79 overall prospect. He was also No. 2 in South Carolina and No. 3 nationally among athletes. Now, Patterson sits at No. 220 overall in the ’26 class. He’s also No. 10 nationally among athletes and No. 5 in South Carolina.

Patterson is a two-way standout at the high school level. Though his defensive back film is impressive, too, Gamecocks wide receivers coach and offensive passing game coordinator Mike Furrey has been recruiting him to become part of his room.

Patterson is an explosive athlete and a fluid mover who has elite upside as a route-runner. With his combination of explosiveness and still untapped potential, he fits the profile of the type of pass-catcher South Carolina has recruited in recent years.

If Patterson were to pick USC, he would become the fifth four-star receiver from the state of South Carolina to commit to the Gamecocks in the last two classes. Furrey signed six receivers in the ’25 cycle, including in-state prospects Malik Clark, Donovan Murph, Jordon Gidron, and Jayden Sellers. Like Patterson, both Murph and Gidron moved up a class before joining the program early.
