South Carolina extends offer to North Carolina linebacker prospect

On Saturday, South Carolina earned a lopsided victory over the Kentucky Wildcats. However, the weekend wasn’t only a success on the field. The Gamecocks hosted some big-time visitors for the sold-out SEC win. That list included North Carolina linebacker Skylar Alston.
On Sunday, Alston announced that his trip to Columbia came with an offer from the Gamecocks. The class of 2028 prospect revealed the new offer on social media, calling the gameday experience “great.” The Gamecocks had a good defensive showing in front of Alston, with Clayton White’s unit responsible for more points (14 on two defensive scores and subsequent PATs) than Kentucky’s entire team (13).
As a player, Alston is a big-bodied linebacker who already possesses solid positional size. Listed at 6-2 and 210 pounds, the high school sophomore stands out on film thanks to his stature and movement ability. As he continues to add muscle and physicality, he will only get better.
Playing for Cardinal Gibbons High School in Raleigh, Alston was slated to be a starter ahead of his freshman season but missed much of the year with an injury. Now that he is healthy, he is making his presence felt.
