South Carolina's LaNorris Sellers earns offseason top-10 ranking from CBS Sports
South Carolina redshirt sophomore quarterback LaNorris Sellers has been one of the most talked-about players in college football this offseason. To go with an elite finish to the 2024 season from a personal standpoint, Sellers then led his Gamecocks to a 6-0 record down the stretch. USC also nearly forced their way into the College Football Playoff behind a great defense and the star-is-born performance from their quarterback in November.

One of the national voices who believes in Sellers’ ability to continue playing at a high level is CBS Sports’ Tom Fornelli. On Wednesday, Fornelli released his list of the country’s top-10 overall quarterbacks heading into 2025, and Sellers made the cut.

According to Fornelli, LaNorris Sellers is the 7th-best quarterback in all of college football.
Said Fornelli about Sellers: “Sellers will be one of the more fascinating cases in 2025. He’s ultra-athletic and extremely talented, but we’ve seen plenty of similar stories in college football over the years. The problem is that many never develop as passers, though the ones who do become legends (and occasionally beat Patrick Mahomes in Super Bowls). Sellers has that kind of ceiling, and with the amount of contributors the Gamecocks need to replace from last year’s team, he’ll need to take that step forward.”

Sellers will look to follow up the first-ever coaches-voted All-SEC season from a South Carolina quarterback with another strong season in 2025. If he can put together a top-10 campaign like Fornelli suggests, the Gamecocks will be right back in the College Football Playoff conversation.
Sellers will lead his South Carolina team onto the field for the first time in 2025 on August 31st. The Gamecocks will play the Virginia Tech Hokies in the Aflac Kickoff Game in Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
