Last season, South Carolina wore a number of uniform combinations, not repeating one until the 11th game of the year. The 2025 Gamecocks have repeated just once. On Saturday, as Williams-Brice Stadium plays host to an SEC showdown with the Alabama Crimson Tide, Shane Beamer’s team will don a combination they haven’t worn since 2023.

According to a Saturday morning post from the South Carolina football social media team, the Gamecocks will wear their white helmets against ‘Bama. The white lids will return to the classic black facemask (USC wore white facemasks against Oklahoma last week). They will come with the now-standard larger Block C decal.

It didn’t take long before the entire gameday look came out.

Big. Game. Garnet. Just as many Carolina fans had hoped, the Gamecocks revealed that they will wear white helmets with garnet jerseys and garnet pants. Back in 2010, Steve Spurrier’s team upset the No. 1-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide wearing this uniform combination.

The last time South Carolina wore W-G-G was in the 2023 blowout win over Vanderbilt. Other than the 2021 season, the Gamecocks have worn the combo just once under head coach Shane Beamer. In total, Beamer holds a 4-1 record in big-game garnet, including a 3-1 mark in his first season.

During the Spurrier era, the Gamecocks only had two primary home looks, white-garnet-white and white-garnet-garnet.

Both the Gamecocks and the Crimson Tide have been inside the top 10 at some point this season. However, that feels like a distant memory for South Carolina, as USC hasn’t earned a spot in the rankings in over a month. Alabama has been ranked the entire season, and Kalen DeBoer’s team now sits at No. 4 in the AP rankings and the coaches poll.

Alabama is in the midst of a tough stretch of games. Six of seven on the Tide schedule are ranked opponents, with the Gamecocks being the only non-ranked team of the bunch. BetMGM lists ‘Bama as 12.5-point favorites.
