South Carolina will play its first home game of the 2025 season on Saturday. The matchup against SC State will begin at 7:00 p.m. under the lights at Williams-Brice Stadium. The game will not be on national television but will stream on ESPN+ and SEC Network+.

The Gamecocks pushed into the top 10 of the AP poll this week, following a week one victory over the Virginia Tech Hokies. Carolina also was 11th in the updated USA Today coaches poll.

South Carolina and South Carolina State have not met on the gridiron since 2022. That game, one that was moved to Thursday night because of an incoming hurricane, finished with a 50-10 final score that favored the home Gamecocks. USC has never lost to SC State.

Last season, South Carolina wore a number of uniform combinations, not repeating one until the 11th game of the year. On Saturday, the Gamecocks will wear a helmet-jersey-pants combination that they wore just once in 2024.

According to an early afternoon post from the Gamecock Football social media accounts, South Carolina will wear black helmets on Saturday. The helmets are the same ones that debuted against Virginia Tech on Sunday. The Block C decal is larger than the ones worn in recent seasons on black helmets and mirrors the one from the 2024 white throwback lids.

Not long later, the Carolina media team showed off the entire gameday look.

South Carolina will wear the new black helmet, garnet jerseys, and garnet pants against SC State.

For the uniform-superstitious side of the fanbase, South Carolina wore the black-garnet-garnet combination once in 2024, the season-opening win against Old Dominion. The 2024 version of the Gamecocks lost just one game wearing garnet jerseys, the October matchup against Ole Miss.

Earlier in the week, Carolina revealed new end zone designs for the home opener. You can read about those here.
