Former South Carolina EDGE rusher commits to Big 12 team out of transfer portal

On Thursday, about two weeks after he revealed his initial plans to transfer, former South Carolina EDGE rusher Wendell Gregory announced a commitment to play for the Oklahoma State Cowboys. Following a redshirt year in 2024, Gregory will have four years of eligibility remaining.
Gregory joins an Oklahoma State team that struggled last season behind a terrible defense. As a former 4-star prospect, he instantly will be one of the most talented players on the roster.

During his time with the Gamecocks, Gregory played in just two games. He also registered just one tackle for South Carolina, a solo stop against the Akron Zips last September.
Some in the recruiting industry rated the Georgia native as a linebacker, while others viewed him as an EDGE. He arrived in Columbia planning to be a linebacker but shifted to a pass rushing role before his freshman season began. At this time, it is unclear which position he will play for Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy.

After Gregory announced his intentions to hit the transfer portal, defensive back Emory Floyd did the same. Both players have since entered the portal officially.
Since Gregory’s departure, South Carolina added former Louisville Cardinals EDGE Demon Clowney. The Gamecocks are kicking the tires on several other portal targets on the defensive line, too, including former North Carolina Tar Heels EDGE Beau Atkinson.
