Official: Mike Shula out as South Carolina offensive coordinator

Mike Shula is out as South Carolina’s offensive coordinator.
Head coach Shane Beamer confirmed the move via press release on Sunday afternoon.
This was Shula’s first season in the role with the Gamecocks after serving as senior offensive assistant last season. He was promoted to the post when Dowell Loggains took the Appalachian State job.
Shula, the former Alabama head coach and Carolina Panthers offensive coordinator, has been under fire for much of his time in Columbia.
Despite having a preseason Heisman favorite at the quarterback position in LaNorris Sellers, the South Carolina offense has never seemed to get going this season.
Nine games into the 2025 season, the Gamecocks’ offense is currently last in the SEC in scoring, total offense, and rushing. South Carolina is 15th in the 16-team league in passing, third-down conversion percentage, and sacks allowed.

Beamer was asked following Saturday’s loss to Ole Miss if the Gamecocks would look at further staff changes after letting go of offensive line coach Lonnie Teasley a couple of weeks ago.
“I’ll look at it,” he said. “Obviously, we’ve gotta get a lot fixed, everybody in that locker room, right now.”
TheBigSpur was first to report the move. FootballScoop has since confirmed.
