South Carolina beats out OSU, UGA for transfer portal DL

As South Carolina continues to mine the transfer portal for help on the line of scrimmage, the Gamecocks have landed one of the spring portal window’s most coveted targets.
Georgia Southern three-star transfer portal defensive lineman Troy Pikes has committed to South Carolina, choosing the Gamecocks after official visits to UGA, Ohio State, and Georgia Tech.

Pikes is still a younger player with three years of eligibility left but started to emerge this season, flashing the combination of size and athleticism that Power 4 programs covet on the defensive line interior.

The 6-foot-3, 290-pounder played in all 13 games this past season with 13 tackles and 0.5 tackles-for-loss. He had a PFF grade of 67.9 and was credited with nine QB pressures.
With the addition of Pikes, the Gamecocks have now added three transfer portal prospects during the spring window including EDGEs Demon Clowney and George Wilson.
