South Carolina senior linebacker Bangally Kamara plans to sit out the remainder of the season and will enter the NCAA transfer portal, GamecockCentral.com has learned.

The fifth-year defender has played in four games this season for the Gamecocks, meaning that he could redshirt and then play a sixth year at another program.

In those four games, the Akron (Ohio) native has tallied 9 tackles and a tackle for loss for the South Carolina defense. During the 2024 campaign, he has played a total of 70 snaps, including a season-high 30 in the most recent contest against Ole Miss.

Kamara arrived this offseason as a transfer to Columbia, having spent four seasons previously at Pittsburgh. During his time with the Panthers, the 6-foot-2, 229-pounder played in 48 games and accumulated 120 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, and 5 sacks.

The NCAA transfer portal does not officially open this year until December 9, and the window closes on January 7, 2025.
