Shane Beamer shares latest on MarShawn Lloyd, Christian Beal-Smith

The South Carolina football team not only left Williams-Brice Stadium with one of the finest wins in school history but also with a clean injury report from the game.
“Injury-wise, everybody is good coming out of last night,” head coach Shane Beamer said Sunday night during his Sunday teleconference. “MarShawn Lloyd and CBS (Christian Beal-Smith) are both questionable this week.”

Lloyd, the Gamecocks’ lead back and top offensive threat, has missed the last three games after suffering a significant thigh bruise against Missouri.
Beal-Smith has been in and out of the lineup all season long after dealing with a preseason football injury and missed the game at Florida and Saturday’s win over Tennessee.
Prior to the injury, Lloyd had emerged as South Carolina’s leading rusher and arguably most valuable player, rushing for 556 yards and nine touchdowns on 100 carries.
The Gamecocks had several players go down at various times during a physical matchup with the Volunteers but all appeared to return to action at later points in the game.

South Carolina defeated Tennessee 63-38 in the matchup, dashing the Vols’ College Football Playoff hopes.
Other than the previously known serious injuries that the team has already had to learn to deal with, the Gamecocks go into this upcoming Saturday’s rivalry matchup with Clemson as a relatively healthy football team, though all teams have their share of bumps and bruises by this time in the season.
South Carolina previously lost two defensive starters – EDGE Jordan Strachan and linebacker Mohamed Kaba – to season-ending injuries. Both Strachan and Kaba went down during the Arkansas game.
Wide receiver Chad Terrell has missed the 2023 campaign with an ACL injury. Nickel/safety David Spaulding injured his foot and is also out for the season after returning to play against Kentucky. Receiver Corey Rucker had season-ending foot surgery earlier this month.
The Gamecocks and Tigers are set for a noon kickoff on ABC at Clemson.
