South Carolina hires Director of Football Nutrition with MLB ties

South Carolina has hired a former Major League Baseball performance dietitian as its new Director of Football Nutrition, Gamecock Central has learned.
Yimy Queipo Rodriguez joined the program last month after previously serving as Coordinator and Performance Dietitian for the Chicago Cubs, according to his LinkedIn bio.

Rodriguez replaces Kristin Coggin, who was hired in the same role at Nebraska after nearly six years at South Carolina.
Prior to his time with the Cubs, Rodriguez was lead Sports Dietitian at the University of Rochester, according to his LinkedIn, which also says he is a registered dietitian nutritionist who is a certified specialist in both Sports Dietetics and Strength and Conditioning.
The 36-year-old who was born in Cuba was drafted in the 27th round as a pitcher by the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2010.

South Carolina has also hired Jennifer Goldstein as its assistant Director of Football Nutrition.
The performance dietitian spent the last year as Director of Athletic Performance for Sports Nutrition for the Louisana Lafayette football program, according to her LinkedIn.
Both hires are also now listed on the school’s official athletics website.
