Nyck vs. Nick! Emmanwori ready for race with Harbor

South Carolina Gamecocks defender Nick Emmanwori published a video back in February of him racing the player that many consider to be the fastest player on the team.
It certainly looked like Emmanwori got the better of USC wide receiver Ahmarean Brown. That gave the video viral status among the Carolina fan base and prompted a round of questions about whether or not it was Emmanwori who was the fastest Gamecock player.
Due to enter the conversation this summer is five-star prospect Nyckoles Harbor, one of the top high school sprinters in the country.
Could the sophomore defensive back beat Harbor in a race?
“Good question,” Emmanwori laughed during a recent conversation with Kendall Smith presented by 360clean and Garnet Trust. “Nyck Harbor, he’s a great athlete. I really haven’t seen an athlete like him before.”

Harbor’s known for his long speed, posting some of the nation’s fastest times in events like the 60 yard dash, plus the 100, 200, and 300 meter races.

“I’d say if we run 100 yards, maybe 60, I think he’ll get me, for sure,” Emmanwori admitted. “But if we run maybe a 40 yard or 50 yard dash, I think I can get him.”
Here’s what On3’s Director of Scouting and Rankings, Charles Power, has said about Harbor:
“Nyckoles Harbor is the rarest jumbo athlete we’ve seen as a recruit. He’s one of the nation’s top sprinters at around 6-foot-5, 225 pounds. While Harbor could play as a pass rusher he’s primarily viewed as a big pass catcher at the college level. He could play at an in-line tight end at times, but is more likely to be split out, even on the perimeter.”

Harbor will on campus in Columbia this summer, and Emmanwori fully plans on reaching out to see if the question can be answered.
“I hope we get to race. I’m pretty sure he’ll like to race. I’m going to ask him if he wants to race. I think everybody wants to see that. I love competition. Whenever he gets down here, we’re going to have to line it up,” said Emmanwori. “If he ends up getting me, may the best man win.”
