In the last 55 days, four Southeastern Conference head coaches have been fired, A’ja Wilson and the Las Vegas Aces won the WNBA Championship, and the NBA and NHL started their seasons.

During that same time frame, Sept. 28 to Nov. 22, the South Carolina Gamecocks had also not won a football game.

In Game 11, with bowl eligibility officially out of the picture, the Gamecocks returned to the win column following a 51-7 win over Coastal Carolina.

The win was a breath of fresh air for Gamecock fans. For the past week, South Carolina had been on the wrong end of national ridicule following a historic 27-point collapse against No. 3 Texas A&M.

The Gamecocks didn’t have to wait long to heal some of the wounds from the previous Saturday’s loss. On the opening play, LaNorris Sellers found his brother Jayden Sellers open as the younger brother took it 75 yards for his first career touchdown.

The brotherly connection proved fruitful in the game’s opening quarter. Just over halfway through the quarter, Jayden Sellers had two receptions for 117 yards, almost double his season total (143) coming into Saturday.

On the Gamecocks’ following drive, it was the older brother’s turn to find the endzone. LaNorris Sellers picked up his fourth rushing touchdown of the season. A missed two-point conversion attempt made it 13-0, South Carolina.

Jayden’s first career touchdown set up a chain of career and season firsts for the Gamecocks. After Brady Hunt rushed for his first touchdown of the season, Donovan Murph caught his first career touchdown pass.

The game entered a lull heading into the halftime break. As the crowd broke out into a wave, Coastal Carolina wide receiver Bryson Graves nearly turned the ball over to South Carolina in the final minute.

Coastal missed a 56-yard field goal by the end of the drive. South Carolina made a 47-yard field goal by the end of the half. As the game went to break, the Gamecocks led 37-0.

South Carolina’s halftime yardage (419) against the Chanticleers was higher than any game in the 2025 season. Additionally, the Gamecocks’ 37 points were one off their season high of 38 against South Carolina State.

South Carolina’s offense under interim offensive coordinator Mike Furrey has now posted its season-high in yardage in back-to-back weeks.

The Gamecocks’ 579 yards of offense is the most in a game for the Gamecocks since posting 608 against Wofford in 2024.

The game remained much of the same after returning from the break, but at a slower pace. Throughout the third quarter, the teams played a combined three drives.

The Chanticleers opened the quarter with a 15-play drive that ended in a turnover on downs, but lasted six minutes. South Carolina matched it with a six-minute drive of its own, getting into the endzone after 13 plays.

Once again, a new wrinkle unseen prior to Furrey taking over the offense found its way into the endzone as, for the second time, a tush push-style play with Hunt under center pushed South Carolina across the goalline. South Carolina’s 44 points entering the fourth are the most in a game this season for the Gamecocks.

Following the quarter change, Shane Beamer and company felt comfortable resting Sellers the rest of the way. A blocked punt returned for six ended the shutout for the Gamecocks. Bradley Dunn pushed the Gamecocks over the 50-point mark for the first time since Wofford following the two-minute timeout.
