South Carolina enters a bit of a reprieve over the next few days.

The Gamecocks are fresh off a 40-point Thursday night win over South Carolina State and have eight days before heading to Kentucky for a night game.

With some downtime, it’s a good chance to look at how the offensive players are performing while using Pro Football Focus (PFF) grades.

The highest-graded among regular contributors is MarShawn Lloyd, who is coming off the two best performances of his career.

He’s sitting at a 74.8 overall grade, increased after averaging 11.3 and 7.3 yards per carry over the last two games, respectively for South Carolina.

Lloyd has forced a team-best 20 missed tackles, double the next best player in the backfield, Juju McDowell with 10. His 167 breakaway yards and 220 yards after contact are by far and away the best on the team.

Of his attempts, 30 have been on gap scheme plays with 22 on zone blocking types for the Gamecocks.

The next regular contributor to crack the PFF list is Jaheim Bell, who has an overall grade of 73.7. He’s caught nine passes on 11 targets for 130 yards and 84 yards after the catch.

His average depth of target is 7.7 yards while he currently ranks seventh on the team in terms of targets. He’s forced four missed tackles in the pass game and quarterbacks have a 78 rating when targeting him.

In the run game he’s averaging three yards per carry, mostly in South Carolina goal line situations, with two scores and four missed tackles forced. He has 28 yards after contact in 13 attempts.

Christian Beal-Smith has played fewer than 50 snaps but still has graded out well with a 72.3 grade and averaging 3.8 yards per carry. He’s up to 70 yards after contact with three missed tackles forced.

South Carolina has split his carries nearly down the middle in run schemes with 10 zone schemes and nine gap scheme plays.

A pair of offensive linemen also grade out well in Jakai Moore and Trai Jones. Moore, who is filling in with Dylan Wonnum out, has played 126 snaps with a 71.6 overall grade. He has a 69.6 run block and 68.3 pass block grade.

He’s allowed just three pressures in 64 pass block snaps for the Gamecocks.

Jones has rotated in at tackle the last few weeks, logging 90 snaps with a 71.2 grade (73 run block, 59.6 pass block). He hasn’t allowed a pressure in 42 pass block snaps.

Juju McDowell also near the top of the list of South Carolina’s regular contributors with an overall grade of 70.8. He’s averaging 3.5 yards per carry and is second on the team with 89 yards after contact.

He’s also forced 10 missed tackles, only behind Lloyd for the team lead. Most of his runs have come on gap-scheme plays with 22 attempts to 12 in the zone scheme runs.
