South Carolina opens as small betting favorite over rival Clemson

South Carolina opened Sunday as a small betting favorite over Clemson in next weekend’s rivalry matchup.
The Gamecocks are a 2.5-point favorite over the Tigers, according to BETMGM, with the over/under on the game set at 46.5.

The regular-season finale will essentially be South Carolina’s bowl game, as the Gamecocks are not bowl-eligible and cannot get there even with a win.
Carolina is 4-7, but a win would help ease some of the hurt of a disappointing season.
It would also mean two straight and three out of the last four over Clemson for Shane Beamer. A victory would also be the first for the Gamecocks in Williams-Brice Stadium since 2013.

South Carolina is coming off a 51-7 win over Coastal Carolina, while the Tigers defeated Furman 45-10.
Clemson, 6-5 overall, is experiencing its own disappointing season that began with College Football Playoff aspirations.
Clemson leads the all-time series with a 73-44-4 record against the Gamecocks. However, South Carolina will come in as the defending state champions after a classic 17-14 win last year, thanks to a game-winning touchdown run by LaNorris Sellers with 1:08 left in the fourth quarter.
This year’s matchup is set for a noon kickoff on SEC Network.
