Left-handed pitcher Bradley Hodges has committed to South Carolina, he announced on social media Tuesday evening.

“Next Chapter- Grateful is an understatement. Go Cocks!” Hodges wrote in a post on his X (formerly known as Twitter) account.

Hodges spent the last three seasons at Virginia, where he went 4-1 with a 4.71 ERA in 28 appearances with nine starts. Over his 63 innings of work, he struck out 78 batters with 41 walks.

After pitching primarily out of the bullpen with the Cavaliers in his first two seasons, Hodges made eight starts this year and went 2-1 with a 4.88 ERA. He struck out 36 batters and walked 17 in 27.2 innings.

He only went five or more innings in two of his starts, but his best outing of the year came on April 26 when he tossed seven innings of one-run ball against Georgia Tech with seven strikeouts and two walks.

Hodges, a Fleming Island, FL native, will have one year of eligibility remaining. He’ll reunite with South Carolina assistant coach John Hendry, who was Virginia’s director of player development from 2022-24.

He becomes the eighth transfer to join the Gamecocks. South Carolina has also added Louisiana-Monroe reliever Josh Gregoire, Purdue first baseman Logan Sutter, Samford two-way player Cullen Horowicz, USC Upstate right-hander Amp Phillips, Sacred Heart right-hander Elijah Foster, Georgia shortstop Erik Parker and Wake Forest right-hander Josh Gunther.

The transfer portal opened on Monday, June 2, and will remain open until July 1 for all players.
