South Carolina volleyball lands highly-touted class of 2027 recruit
Sarah Rumely Noble has won one of the first major recruiting battles in her early tenure as the South Carolina volleyball team’s head coach.
Riley Riggs, a 6-foot outside hitter from Shawnee, Kansas, made her commitment to the Gamecocks official on Tuesday afternoon.
A highly-touted recruit in the class of 2027, Riggs finds herself near the top of multiple volleyball recruiting rankings. Prep Digs lists Riggs as the No. 32 prospect in the country, in addition to the No. 1 prospect in Kansas. PrepVolleyball.com, meanwhile, pegs her as the nation’s No. 29 overall recruit.

Her club team – Dynasty 16-1 Black, which is located in Kansas City – was a top-10 squad in the country at one point this past season. Riggs is also a two-time Kansas State High School Activities Association 6A champion at Mill Valley High School.

“I am a gritty, shotty, six-rotation outside hitter touching over 10ft. I am a go-to scorer with a heavy swing in the front and the back rows,” Riggs said in her SportsRecruits profile. “I take great pride in being a tough defender and a consistent, aggressive server. I am a hustler who helps lead my team on the floor with a go-getter attitude and a determination to win.
2025 will serve as Rumely Noble’s first season in charge of South Carolina’s volleyball program. She previously served as Appalachian State’s head volleyball coach over the last three years. Rumely Noble also has coaching experience at LSU, Arkansas, Wake Forest and North Texas.
As things currently stand, the Gamecocks’ 2025 schedule consists of only its 15-game slate of SEC contests. South Carolina will face Kentucky in its first conference matchup on Wednesday, September 24 at 7 p.m.
