South Carolina women's basketball legend earns training camp invite from Team USA

On Monday, the United States Basketball Women’s National Team announced its training camp participants ahead of the 2026 World Cup. Former South Carolina women’s basketball star Aliyah Boston is one of 18 players competing for a spot on Team USA for next year’s international competition and the additional qualifying rounds that lead up to it throughout the year.
Joining Boston at training camp are 15 other WNBA stars Caitlin Clark (Indiana Fever), Angel Reese (Chicago Sky), Paige Bueckers (Dallas Wings), Brittney Griner (Atlanta Dream), Brionna Jones (Atlanta Dream), Kelsey Plum (Los Angeles Sparks), Dearica Hamby (Los Angeles Sparks), Rickea Jackson (Los Angeles Sparks), Cameron Brink (Los Angeles Sparks), Jackie Young (Las Vegas Aces), Chelsea Gray (Las Vegas Aces), Kahleah Copper (Phoenix Mercury), Veronica Burton (Golden State Valkyries), Sonia Citron (Washington Mystics), and Kiki Iriafen (Washington Mystics) and two players still in college, Lauren Betts (UCLA Bruins) and Juju Watkins (Southern Cal Trojans).

For Boston, the December training camp will not be her first time with Team USA. The former Gamecock previously won virtually every gold medal possible with the junior national team. She also brought home an AmeriCup title back in 2021.

The training camp will be in Durham, North Carolina and will run from December 12th to December 14th. USA Women’s National Team managing director Sue Bird will work in conjunction with Duke head coach Kara Lawson and her national team staff to pick the 2026 World Cup roster.
The United States has won four consecutive World Cup gold medals. South Carolina legend A’ja Wilson was on the 2022 and 2018 teams and won the 2022 World Cup MVP. The 2026 World Cup will be in Berlin, Germany from September 4th to September 13th.
