South Carolina women's basketball sets preseason exhibition

The South Carolina women’s basketball program announced on Monday that they were adding an exhibition game to the schedule this fall. The Gamecocks will take on the Anderson Trojans in a preseason showdown on October 24th. The in-state matchup will take place at Colonial Life Arena. At this time, the University of South Carolina has not revealed any other details.
This is not the only preseason exhibition on the calendar for Dawn Staley’s team.
Earlier this year, USC announced that the Gamecocks and North Carolina Tar Heels would play in an exhibition in Atlanta on October 30th.
Because they play in the South Atlantic Conference as part of Division-II basketball, Anderson has never met South Carolina in a regular-season contest. However, the two programs met up for an exhibition ahead of the 2012 campaign.
Last year, Anderson went 24-10 overall and 17-7 in conference play. Jonathan Barbaree’s team made it to the South Atlantic Conference Tournament Championship Game and earned a berth in the Division-II NCAA Tournament.
