South Carolina women's basketball moves up in latest AP poll

South Carolina women’s basketball spent last week not in the AP Poll’s No. 1 spot for the first time since last season’s preseason poll. Just a week after the Gamecocks’ drop, Dawn Staley’s team is inching closer to the throne again.
On Monday, the latest AP top-25 rankings dropped, and South Carolina is now No. 3. With Notre Dame losing twice last week and the Gamecocks dominating the Fort Myers Tip-Off by a combined 175-86 score over Iowa State and Purdue, Carolina moved up a spot from 4th.
While USC moved up, in part, due to another team’s misfortune, sometimes teams jump in the rankings thanks to winning big games. That is the opportunity in front of South Carolina this week.
