South Carolina women's basketball: Bree Hall is back in the WNBA

Bree Hall is back in the WNBA. The Golden State Valkyries signed the former Gamecock to a seven-day hardship contract on Wednesday.

Golden State has been hit hard by injuries in recent weeks. On Sunday, guards Tiffany Hayes and Carla Leite both left Golden State’s game against Phoenix with injuries. 

This is Hall’s second stint with Golden State. She was with the Valkyries from June 18-30 when Golden State needed a replacement for players who were playing in the EuroBasket tournament.

Hall appeared in two of a possible five games for Golden State, including a chance to play in front of Dawn Staley in her final game before being waived. 

Hall scored three points in her debut, including a runner that was her first career basket. She was scoreless with a rebound in her second game.

Hall was originally a second-round pick, 20th overall, by Indiana. She played in one preseason game, scoring nine points against the Brazilian national team. Indiana waived her the next day. 

Hall won two national championships at South Carolina and made four Final Fours. She was a starter on the undefeated 2024 team. Her defense and knack for knocking down clutch baskets earned her the nickname “Big Shot Breezy.”

After four seasons in the garnet and black, in which Hall won two national championships, four SEC regular season championships, and three SEC tournament championships, Hall was the second of three Gamecocks picked in the 2025 WNBA Draft. 

Te-Hina Paopao was the first pick and has excelled for Atlanta, where she has been a part-time starter for the league’s second-best team. Sania Feagin was the final pick and has been a little-used reserve for Los Angeles.

Hall will be available to play in Golden State’s next game against Washington on Saturday.
