South Carolina women's basketball: Bree Hall returns to Indiana

The Indiana Fever signed former Gamecock Bree Hall to a rest-of-season hardship contract on Thursday, bringing Hall back to the team that originally drafted her.
Hall probably won’t unpack her suitcase, though. This marks her fourth stint with two different teams this season.
Indiana has been decimated by injuries to the point that Lexie Hull, playing with two black eyes, is the only healthy wing on the roster. Chloe Bibby, who was signed as a hardship player to replace injured Sophie Cunningham, has also been lost for the rest of the season with a knee injury.
The season ends September 11, so this is effectively another seven-day contract. However, Indiana currently holds the final playoff spot with two games left to play.
Hall was originally a second-round pick, 20th overall, by Indiana. She played in one preseason game, scoring nine points against the Brazilian national team. Indiana waived her the next day. Hall went on to have two stints with Golden State.
Her first stint with the Valkyries was from June 18-30, when Golden State needed a replacement for players who were playing in the EuroBasket tournament. Coincidentally, Bibby was also signed by Golden State during the same span.
Hall appeared in two of a possible five games for Golden State, including a chance to play in front of Dawn Staley in her final game before being waived.
Hall scored three points in her debut, including a runner that was her first career basket. She was scoreless with a rebound in her second game.

Golden State signed Hall to a seven-day hardship contract on August 27 following a rash of injuries. One of those injured players, forward Monique Billings, has recovered from her injury. To activate Billings, Golden State had to waive Hall on September 1.
Hall was available for two games during that stint, appearing in one. She played five minutes but had no stats against Washington.
WNBA teams are required to have at least 11 players, but no more than 12. Those rules create a need for players like Hall who bounce around the league whenever someone gets hurt.
Hall won two national championships at South Carolina and made four Final Fours. She was a starter on the undefeated 2024 team. Her defense and knack for knocking down clutch baskets earned her the nickname “Big Shot Breezy.”
After four seasons in the garnet and black, in which Hall won two national championships, four SEC regular season championships, and three SEC tournament championships, Hall was the second of three Gamecocks picked in the 2025 WNBA Draft.
Te-Hina Paopao was the first pick and has excelled for Atlanta, where she has been a part-time starter for the league’s second-best team. Sania Feagin was the final pick and has been a little-used reserve for Los Angeles.
