South Carolina women's basketball forward wins SEC Player of the Week

On Monday, South Carolina women’s basketball forward Chloe Kitts earned distinction as co-SEC Player of the Week. The honor comes as no surprise as Kitts recorded just the ninth triple-double in Gamecock history against Ole Miss and followed it up with a strong double-double against Kentucky. USC won both games.
In her triple-double, Kitts logged 16 points, 13 rebounds, and 10 assists. The 10 assists was double her previous career-high number. Her 13 rebounds was just one shy of a new career-best mark. The triple-double was the program’s first since Aliyah Boston logged one in the 2020-2021 campaign.
Kitts averaged 14.5 points, 11.5 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game last week, and her efforts helped South Carolina secure a share of another SEC regular season championship. The Gamecocks have won the regular season title all three of Kitts’ years on campus.

Next up, Kitts and the Gamecocks will travel to Greenville, South Carolina for the SEC Tournament. By virtue of the conference’s coin flip tiebreaker, USC will be the No. 1 seed at Bon Secours Wellness Arena this week and will not play until Friday because of the double-bye.
If the Gamecocks win the tournament, it will be the program’s fourth in four seasons. It also likely would secure South Carolina’s place as a No. 1 seed heading into the NCAA Tournament.
