South Carolina women's basketball staffer following Winston Gandy to new job
Recently, South Carolina women’s basketball assistant coach Winston Gandy filled the head coaching vacancy at Grand Canyon University. Following five years with Molly Miller at the helm, Grand Canyon brought in Gandy as the program’s fourth head coach since moving to the Division-I level.
Per an announcement from the school, Gandy is bringing a South Carolina staffer with him. Assistant recruiting coordinator Chloe Rice will be an assistant coach with the Lopes.

Rice spent three seasons with the Gamecocks, helping USC to three Final Four appearances and one National Championship. For two of those seasons, she worked alongside Gandy. Rice began her coaching career with South Carolina as a graduate assistant. She held that title for two years before becoming the program’s assistant recruiting coordinator last offseason.

During her time in Columbia, the Gamecocks were the winningest program in women’s college basketball. South Carolina went 109-5 overall and lost just one game in SEC play.
Rice, who played her collegiate ball at St. Louis and Bradley, earned a graduate degree from the University of South Carolina.
