Perennial championship contenders South Carolina and UConn will resume their rivalry next season with a neutral-site game.

The Gamecocks and Huskies will face off in the Basketball Hall of Fame Showcase at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT, on November 24, 2026.

South Carolina and UConn played an annual home-and-home series beginning with the 2014-15 season. The contract expired after the 2024 game in Columbia. The teams played a makeup game last season to cover the canceled 2022 game.

During that span, the Gamecocks and Huskies also met in the 2018 Elite Eight, where UConn eliminated South Carolina. They played in the 2021 Battle4Atlantis, with South Carolina claiming a 73-57 win in the title game. South Carolina and UConn also met for the 2022 and 2025 national championships, each claiming a title.

According to sources close to both teams, coaches Geno Auriemma and Dawn Staley had grown weary of interrupting their conference schedules to play the game in late January or February, a made-for-tv date.

UConn had scheduled a home-and-home series against Tennessee for February of 2025 and 2026.

This will be South Carolina’s second appearance in the Hall of Fame Showcase in Uncasville. South Carolina beat Utah 78-69 on December 10, 2023, on the way to an undefeated season. Last season, South Carolina played the Hall of Fame Series against Michigan in Las Vegas.

The announcement of the Hall of Fame Showcase game brings the total to five confirmed games for South Carolina next season.

The Gamecocks will open the season on November 2 in Paris against Maryland. On November 15, South Carolina and Southern Cal conclude The Real SC series at Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville. There are also unscheduled games at Grand Canyon and Clemson.

South Carolina can also expect to play a game in the annual ACC/SEC Challenge.
