California forward Kaeli Wynn has committed to South Carolina. She made the announcement on social media on Monday night.

Wynn visited South Carolina twice this fall. She took an official visit the weekend of September 5, and then visited again with her friend Jerzy Robinson the weekend of October 24.

A 6-2 forward, Wynn is ranked 22nd by Rivals, 17th by ESPN, and 38th by 24/7.  She suffered a dislocated knee in January and did not play the rest of the season or this summer.

Wynn averaged 17.6 points, 7.3 rebounds, and shot 43% from three as a junior. She was named an honorable mention All-American by MaxPreps despite her injury.

Wynn plays for powerhouse Mater Dei in Los Angeles, California, and comes from a basketball family. Her mom played at Southern Cal (where she was a teammate of Lisa Leslie) and was the head coach at Long Beach and Washington before taking over at Mater Dei.

Wynn explained to ESPN why she chose South Carolina.

“I chose South Carolina because of Coach Staley’s leadership, the program’s championship culture and the energy of Gamecock Nation that made Columbia feel like home,” she said to ESPN. “I’m looking forward to competing at the highest level and helping the Gamecocks win more SEC and national championships.”

Wynn’s sister Jada has played for Colorado and Texas Tech, and will play this season for UC-Irvine, where their dad Derek is an assistant coach.

Wynn took unofficial visits to Stanford, Texas Tech (while her sister was still there), and Michigan State. She took her official visit to Stanford on Halloween weekend.

Wynn describes herself as a “do-it-all player” and she is capable of playing multiple positions. Not surprisingly, with two coaches for parents, Wynn has an extremely high basketball IQ, and her versatility and decision-making on the court stand out.

Wynn joins 6-4 forward Kelsi Andrews in South Carolina’s 2026 signing class. Andrews committed to the Gamecocks on October 7.

South Carolina is still involved with Robinson, Brihanna Crittendon, French forward Alicia Tournebize, and Spanish forward Sara Okeke.
