One of the best post players in the country will be in Columbia soon. Class of 2026 four-star Kelsi Andrews confirmed on social media that she will be checking out the South Carolina women’s basketball program on an official visit this weekend.

Andrews is a native of Auburn, Alabama but now plays in Bradenton, Florida at IMG Academy. At IMG, she is a consensus top 25 national prospect and a potential five-star when the 2027 rankings finalize.

Andrews also plays her AAU ball for FBC United, the same club that produced Joyce Edwards, Raven Johnson, TaNiya Latson, Ashlyn Watkins, Kamilla Cardoso, and former Gamecock MiLaysia Fulwiley.

The 6-4 post player has been listed as both a center and as a power forward in her prep career. She currently ranks as Rivals’ No. 20 overall prospect in the ’27 cycle. She’s also No. 4 among power forwards and No. 2 in the state of Florida.

Andrews’ visit to South Carolina will give head coach Dawn Staley the opportunity to give her “Post Player U” pitch. The Gamecocks routinely put players at every position in the WNBA, but post players have seen the most success. A’ja Wilson just won her fourth WNBA MVP honor, while Aliyah Boston is a three-time All-Star in three seasons. Kamilla Cardoso was a top five pick just two years ago, as well.

South Carolina also has something else going for them in this recruitment. Andrews told Rivals earlier this year that “the most important things to me are winning, [and] making me feel like I’m at home.” No team has won more games or championships than the Gamecocks in recent years, and Coach Staley is regarded as one of the most relationship-driven coaches in America.

Andrews has an elite athletic bloodline. Her mother played basketball at LSU and Alabama, and her father played football for the Crimson Tide. Those genetics show on the court. Though not overly explosive, she is an extremely comfortable athlete who plays with aggression.

Tough with plus-length, Andrews is a big-time shot-blocker on defense and a strong rebounder. On offense, she can score near the hoop but has a solid jumper away from the basket, too. She played this summer with Team USA’s U17 squad at the U17 World Cup.

Andrews recently took an official visit to LSU, too. She also told Rivals’ Talia Goodman not long ago that South Carolina, Notre Dame, Duke, and Ohio State were the other teams she was hearing from most. The Irish, Buckeyes, and Mississippi State Bulldogs all have visits scheduled with Andrews.
