South Carolina women's basketball Rapid Reaction: Auburn

South Carolina pulled away from Auburn late for an 83-66 win. Here’s what stood out to me from the game.
– I’m willing to chalk the poor defense up to playing at noon on a Sunday. The track record over the rest of the season is too strong, and with A’ja Wilson’s jersey retirement ceremony, it was a pretty early morning.
It would be nice to see South Carolina shut down Georgia on Thursday as a bounceback, though.
– Raven Johnson had a strange game. She had a nice stat line: nine points, seven assists, and a career-high six steals. But she also made some pretty glaring mistakes.

Officially, Johnson only had two turnovers, but that doesn’t tell the whole story. She threw an alley-oop in between MiLaysia Fulwiley and Joyce Edwards that ended with them colliding in mid-air. She was falling out of bounds after a steal and instead of handing it to Tessa Johnson beside her, threw it wildly into the frontcourt for a turnover.

She also lost track of the clock at the end of the third quarter and threw up a half-court shot instead of passing ahead to Fulwiley for a more makeable shot.
But these are things you get to nit-pick after another double-digit conference win.
– It appears the Maryam Dauda forced experience is over. Before the bye, Dawn Staley said she was trying to force Dauda into being a contributor. But on Sunday, when Sania Feagin got in foul trouble late in the first half, Staley inserted Sakima Walker instead of Dauda. Dauda got in for garbage time in the fourth quarter. Neither player scored or got a rebound.
