South Carolina and North Carolina will play in an exhibition in Atlanta to tip off the season.

The game at State Farm Arena is the first part of a double-header, with the Auburn and Memphis men’s basketball teams playing the second game.

Tipoff is at 6:00 pm on Thursday, October 30. Tickets go on sale on August 8 at 10:00 am. South Carolina is also providing a FAM Bus Trip for the game. Tickets for the bus trip (including the game) are on sale now for $125.

The event was created by Complete Sports Management, the same organization that created last season’s exhibition double-header against Memphis, The Real SC series, and the Aflac Oui-Play.

The Gamecocks and Tar Heels have met 22 times in the regular and postseason and have split the series 11-11. They have played just once in the regular season since 2013, a 66-58 Gamecock win in Chapel Hill.

During that same span, the programs have met four times in the NCAA Tournament. North Carolina won the first game in 2014, but South Carolina won games in 2015 and 2022, both in Greensboro, and in 2024 in Columbia.

Additionally, South Carolina and North Carolina have often held their “secret” preseason scrimmage against each other. This will be the first official exhibition between the programs.

South Carolina has not announced if there will be an additional exhibition game in Columbia, as there was last season.

In addition to the exhibition, the Gamecocks have seven confirmed nonconference games.

South Carolina plays Southern Cal in Los Angeles on November 15. The Gamecocks will visit Louisville on December 4 as part of the ACC/SEC Challenge. They visit South Florida on December 18 and Florida Gulf Coast on December 20. South Carolina wraps up the nonconference schedule at home against Providence on December 28

South Carolina will play Duke and either Texas or UCLA play in the Players Era Championship in Las Vegas over Thanksgiving.

The annual rivalry game against Clemson has not been confirmed, but there is no reason to think the Tigers won’t be the eighth non-conference opponent for the Gamecocks. That leaves approximately six games left to be determined.
