Former South Carolina women's basketball star getting new pro opportunity

Former South Carolina women’s basketball star Ty Harris will play overseas this offseason. According to a report from the Chinese Women’s Hoop Show (an outlet that covers the Women’s Chinese Basketball Association and has broken lots of WNBA-to-WCBA news this offseason), Harris has signed a contract to join the Liaoning Flying Eagles after her WNBA season ends.
She will look to improve a team that finished 12th (out of 17) during the 2023-2024 season. The Flying Eagles hope to return to the prominence the franchise experienced when they won four championships in five seasons from 2006-2010.
Many WNBA players play overseas during the offseason to supplement their incomes and to continue working on their games in competitive environments. Harris joins fellow Gamecock legend Kamilla Cardoso (Shanghai Swordfish) in the WCBA.

Her long list of accolades includes All-American honors, three years of All-SEC selections, and an SEC All-Freshman selection. Harris also won the Dawn Staley Award and was a finalist for two National Player of the Year honors. She made two Honorable Mention All-American teams and was a Nancy Lieberman Award finalist twice, as well.
