South Carolina right-handed pitcher Parker Marlatt will return for his junior season, GamecockCentral has confirmed.

Coming off a season in which the Gamecocks had their worst ERA (6.41) in program history, Marlatt’s return comes as a big one for South Carolina. He was a bright spot in his sophomore year as he pitched to a team-best 4.18 ERA out of the bullpen.

In 28 appearances, Marlatt struck out 30 batters and walked 11 over 28 innings. His longest outing of the year came on Opening Day when he threw 2.2 innings. However, he never went more than two innings in any of his other relief appearances.

Marlatt burst onto the scene as a freshman reliever in 2024, pitching some important innings for the Gamecocks down the stretch. His most notable outing came against Kentucky in the SEC Tournament when he tossed 3.2 innings of one-run ball with six strikeouts to help the team stave off elimination.

He finished his first year with a 4.38 ERA and 27 strikeouts with 13 walks in 24.2 innings. He also held opponents to a .188 batting average.

Marlatt becomes the eighth player to announce his intentions to return to the Gamecocks in 2026. Senior catcher Talmadge LeCroy, freshman third baseman KJ Scobey, freshman first baseman Beau Hollins, sophomore left-handers Jake McCoy and Aydin Palmer, junior left-hander Jackson Soucie and freshman right-hander Zach Russell will also return.

South Carolina is coming off its worst season in program history after finishing 28-29 (6-24 SEC) under head coach Paul Mainieri. The Gamecocks have lost 14 players to the transfer portal, which officially opened to all players on Monday, June 2. The portal will remain open until July 1.
