Back in December when Mazeo Bennett decommitted from Tennessee talks of whether or not South Carolina would be able to land the 4-star from Greenville began to pick up. Well, a month later wonder no more.

Bennett, who stands at just shy of 6-feet tall, 175 pounds, chooses USC over schools including Alabama, Florida State, Miami, Michigan State and Stanford. In October he was originally committed to Tennessee. But two months later be decommitted from the Vols and reopened his commitment. One reason why? The Gamecocks never stopped recruiting him.
Prior to going public with his commitment to USC, Bennett said, “The consistency in the program with recruiting me. They never stop. That’s the one thing I can say: they never stop coming. They never stop trying to get me, so that’s one thing I respect about them.”

Bennett becomes the fifth commitment for South Carolina’s class of 2024 joining QB Dante Reno, OT Kam Pringle, tight end Michael Smith, and LB Wendell Gregory. Meaning that all five of the Gamecocks commitments so far for next year’s class are all four stars.
Prior to Bennett’s commitment, the Gamecocks ranked seventh in recruiting for the class of 2024 according to the On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings.
