Wake Forest portal lineman picks South Carolina

Wake Forest transfer portal offensive lineman Nick Sharpe, one of South Carolina’s top o-line targets, has committed to and signed with the Gamecocks, according to On3’s Pete Nakos.
The 6-foot-2, 330-pounder was a starter for the Deamon Deacons this year and had a PFF grade of 72.6. He is currently the No. 28 IOL in the transfer portal.

After entering the portal, Sharpe quickly emerged as a priority target for the Gamecocks.
Sharpe took a visit to South Carolina earlier this week and briefly told GamecockCentral after it wrapped up on Friday that it was “fantastic” and he “loved it.”
The Gamecocks added Torricelli Simpkins III and Kamaar Bell out of the portal last year and both ended up starting at the two guard spots this season. But both Simpkins and Bell are out of eligibility, as is veteran center Vershon Lee.

As GamecockCentral has reported, Carolina has prioritized adding competition and depth to the interior of its o-line this portal opening.
A Gastonia, N.C. native, Sharpe graduated from Hunter Huss High School.
Sharpe is the second portal pledge of the evening for the Gamecocks, who earlier on Saturday added a commitment from Missouri EDGE Jaylen Brown.
