What Auburn coach Bruce Pearl said after beating South Carolina on Saturday

Following a 66-63 win over South Carolina on Saturday, Auburn head coach Bruce Pearl spoke to the media after the game. Below is a summary of what he had to say.
— Auburn won this game because they defended. They held South Carolina without a point in the final five minutes. Holding them to 23 in the second half is significant.
— This is what it’s going to be like every night in the league. Road games are tough. Auburn could’ve played better.
— Johni Broome has a sprained ankle. They’ll go back to Auburn and get it checked out to see if there’s anything more. They’ll see what the doctors say. It’s going to be next man up going forward like it was in the second half. Thought their guards made big plays.
— They all stepped up in the second half. Holding a team to 23 points, that’s just a will to win right there.

— It was like a tennis match early in this game with both teams going back and forth. It was really good basketball early. Lamont Paris does a good job. South Carolina played with a lot of physicality early. Thought the officiating was good and let both teams play. When South Carolina is able to play physical, they’re good.
— You remember back in the day when Kentucky fans would travel and some of these other major blue blood programs for road games. The SEC is doing that now. Basketball fans are starting to travel. Auburn fans traveled well today. South Carolina WBB does that for their road games, too.
— You’ve got to make free throws in late game situations. South Carolina went 1-for-6 in the second half, Auburn went 3-for-6. Auburn did a good job of guarding Murray-Boyles late in the game.
— Chaney Johnson is Auburn’s best athlete. He’s incredibly capable of physically stepping up. Without Broome, they had to make up for it. It’s hard to find good offense like they’ve been having. Defensively, the guys stepped up without Broome.
