Head coach Shane Beamer spoke to the media during a Sunday night teleconference after a 47-6 win over Vanderbilt. Here’s what he had to say.

— Really proud of the way they performed and how they finished. Little bit of a sloppy start but got better as the game went on. Seven minute mark in the third quarter was where things really trended upwards.
— Injury report: Juju McDowell is done for the year. Everyone else came out of the game in decent shape. Joyner, Jones and Henry are questionable.
— Offensive players of game: Lee, Rattler, Mario Anderson. Defense: Bam Martin-Scott, Tonka, DQ and Emmanwori. Special teams: Keenan Nelson and Scott. Scout offense: Elijah Caldwell.

— Gamecock MVP were the troops from Fort Jackson.
— Confident in Boogie Huntley, who got rolled up in a practice period on Wednesday. Thought if anyone could play through an injury it would be him.
— Continuing to find ways to get athletes on the field. Need to continue to have depth at the defensive tackle position. Third down package continues to evolve. Mix things up and give offenses more to prepare for.
— Spencer Rattler continues to be consistent. A lot of it starts with the protection. Taken a beating this year. Lights out yesterday in protection. When you give him protection, he’s just that good.
— Doesn’t rule anything out right now with moving guys to other positions (essentially about running back). Only 2 scholarship running backs. Gotta be creative. Get your best players on the field.
— Would love to keep the same offensive line out there every week. Continuity is big. Didn’t do a great job of running the football, need to be more productive, and that starts with continuity on the line. If they are able to get Jones and Henry back, that would be awesome. Jaxon Hughes played in first game since the beginning of the season.
— Good to get Djay Braswell in there. He was on the kickoff team the last two weeks. Yesterday was a critical time to get him in there. Braswell is a competitive guy and doesn’t back down from anything.
— You don’t want to make a big deal out of one game. Defensively, they’ve shown some flashes. Did a good job covering the Vandy receivers. Not going to call his defense the ’85 Bears but if everyone can keep playing together it will be a November to remember.
— Knows it will be a challenge with Kentucky and will be better.
— Kajuan Banks was a little dinged up. Did good but had a little bit of a bad shoulder. Limited him at the end of the game. Vicari Swain, no particular reason for him coming out late in the game. Both are good young players. Swain has great ability and need him to come along.

— It’s a little concerning to have some issues on special teams. These next two games will be dog fights and there can’t be slip ups.
— Firing coaches is part of the job. Hates to see Jimbo Fisher get fired. Always been good to him. Enjoyed getting to know him. Has friends on that coaching staff and hates it for them. Awesome profession but also brutal at the same time. Fisher will be okay but he thinks about the assistant coaches and their families.
— Scott is getting a bigger role with the three down plays. Did it out of nickel and four down linemen. With this, they’ve taken three DBs and three linebackers. Bam has the ability to rush the passer and he continues to gain confidence every week.
— Jon’Darius Morgan is a guy that continues to put his head down and work. Tries to get better in practice. Consistent guy day in and day out. Wanted to get some more size in there with Trey Knox out. Works hard to get better each day.
