Greeneville (Tenn.) standout athlete Zaydyn Anderson has rocketed up the rankings since committing to Tennessee in June, and he has now put pen to paper and is set to get his career started on Rocky Top.

“It just feels great to make it official,” Anderson told Volquest of the excitement to see the recruiting process come to a close. “Now, I am just ready to start focusing on everything Tennessee and get up there and get to work and start getting developed early on. It really means a lot for me to have the opportunity to stay close to home and my family and get developed.

Anderson has been a two-way player at Greeneville, so he is excited to focus in on one position and start to refine his craft.

“I just want to go there my freshman year and take it all in and get developed as much as I can so that I can start to make an impact on the defensive side of the football,” Anderson said. “I just know they will help me get to the point where I am making play at Tennessee.”

The Scout on Anderson

Volquest caught up with Greeneville Head Coach Eddie Spradlen back in June at the time of Anderson’s commitment to get his thoughts.

“You know, first and foremost he comes to work every day,” Spradlen said of what stands out about Anderson. “He’s a kid that really has bought into what we do in the weight room. It doesn’t matter if it was during their track season or basketball season or during the football season, he shows up and busts his butt every day. And then on top of that, he’s blessed with a lot of skill and ability.”

Anderson has elite speed and is a state champion on the track.

“Yeah, obviously mention the speed, but you know that work ethic, he’s got a natural talent to really track down the football,” Spradlen added. “Does a really good job of just learning. He is really coming into his own in the man coverage stuff and really buying into defensive side of the ball. He is really explosive when he has a football in his hands.”
