A look at Hendon Hooker’s projected rookie contract value

Former Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker was projected as high as No.11 in the 2023 NFL Draft, but after an early run on quarterbacks in the top five picks, Hooker slid back into the 3rd round of the draft and was picked with the 68th overall pick.
Now that his name has been called, once Hooker signs his first NFL contract, he will be due a nice payday despite sliding.
According to Spotrac, Hooker’s projected rookie contact is valued at $5,719,022 over four years, with a guaranteed signing bonus of $1,159,289.
Despite a late ACL injury that ended Hooker’s season and Heisman hopes, his veteran presence, leadership ability, and on-field play at Tennessee over the last two seasons clearly impressed NFL teams during the Draft process.
This landing spot is ideal for Hooker in his first year of the season, as he can learn the system under a veteran quarterback and not have to rush back from his late-season injury.

Looking back at Hooker’s Career at Tennessee
In two seasons in Knoxville, the former Virginia Tech transfer threw for 6,080 yards, 58 touchdowns and five interceptions. He also rushed for 1,046 yards and 10 scores and led the Vols to a 15-7 record as a starter, including an 8-0 start in 2022.
Hooker led Tennessee to the top-ranking in the inaugural College Football Playoff rankings last fall after helping the Vols down Pitt, LSU, Florida and Alabama.
