Ball with The Beast: A tour around the SEC

A full slate of conference games headline the SEC going into week nine in the Ball with The Beast podcast presented by Wyatt Insurance. Tennessee back home for homecoming on the hill but will have eyes on Athens for Missouri and Georgia.
“Georgia can win without the Heisman trophy winning tight end on the field Paul,” Brent Hubbs said. “I think Brock Bowers is really good but Georgia has a lot of weapons. They were probably too dependent on Bowers. They were more dynamic offensively against Florida than they had been. They let Carson Beck play. I’m going to be fascinated to watch the start of this game. Missouri was down 14 to nothing at Kentucky and they can’t do that in Athens.”
Down on the Grove in Oxford, Texas A&M looks to avoid another loss to Ole Miss, who remains in the mix in the west.
“Can Ole Miss avoid what has happened the last two Novembers?” Paul Fortenberry said. “They are in the same position they’ve been in. They have floundered down the stretch and not being able to win the big games. Part of last year was Lane flirting with Auburn. At the end of the day, for Lane or Ole Miss to take the next step they have to win a lot of these games in November.”

Starting quarterback Ta’Quan Roberson is back after tearing his ACL in week one of last season for UConn. The veteran has thrown for over 1,200 yards in seven games with eight touchdowns and three interceptions – all while completing 58 percent of his passes. The quarterback has also scored twice on the ground. Even with his solid play, Fortenberry believes it’s an easy win on a noon kick for homecoming.
“I think the Vols roll and it wont be close,” Fortenberry said. “Congrats to UConn for having a successful program after almost dying.”
