Tennessee legend Casey Clausen joined Beyond the Orange sponsored by Knoxville Smiles to look back at his career and how coming back to Knoxville as a dad is still an awesome experience.

“It’s awesome,” Clausen said. “The best part about it is to see so many familiar faces when I was playing that are still involved in the program. Marcus Hilliard, Miss Angela, Scottie Altizer, Max, Fraz and Hawk. Those are the names Peyton and Tee gave me when I first got here. I was able to go see Coach Fulmer and Robert Peace’s son JP play.

“It’s awesome to play the role of dad on campus. I remember like it was yesterday my first time coming out here with my father and meeting Gerald Harrison and Scottie Altizer and that crew. To be able to bring them out and expose them is something is different. SEC football is different than what we live in California.”

The flashbacks hit Clausen when he finds his way back to campus.

“First time we got back, I say are you hungry and we go to Gus’s and I remember that like it was yesterday,” Clausen said. “The strip isn’t what the strip used to be but seeing the kids walk up and down the strip brings back so many memories for us. I would take the guys out on Thursday’s so it just brings back memories.”

Tennessee Orange hasn’t won at Florida since 2003

Florida leads the all-time series 32-22 dating back a game in Tampa in October 1916. Tennessee has won two of the last three, but hasn’t won in Gainesville since 2003. Clausen was the quarterback that day and won both times he led the Vols to the Swamp.

Much like those two trips, Tennessee will have a California quarterback leading them this Saturday.
