Beyond the Orange: DeSean Bishop
Tennessee running back DeSean Bishop is not only a local product but he might be the best story on this team outside of Joey Aguilar. He went Beyond the Orange sponsored by Knoxville Smiles to talk about this growth on Rocky Top.
“I’d say the biggest thing was off the field,” Bishop said. “My off the field habits didn’t always line up to my on the field habits and that goes back to who I decided to give my life to and that’s my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. My faith has been the biggest change since you all knew me at Karns to what you know now. It really shows. I actually enjoy waking up and being a part of life. Even though there is a lot of stuff that goes on outside of life that is out of our control. I’m in a role right now that I can make an impact. Not only in my community but the world we live in. It’s been a blessing to be on this journey and I feel like there is a lot more still in store that I’m going to be a part of and pushing for. I can’t wait to see what God has in store for me.”
The younger version of Bishop would be proud of where he has came from.
“I’d be in disbelief,” Bishop said. “I used to have a little bit of doubt in myself, especially getting hurt. Especially being a walk on. I really got to that position? That’s what I’d be telling myself because it doesn’t even look real. It feels like a dream and I’m so blessed.”
