Beyond the Orange: William Inge

Tennessee linebackers coach William Inge joined Beyond the Orange sponsored by Knoxville Smiles this week to discuss his journey, this group of Vols and so much more.
“The level of talent is just what you would expect,” Inge said about now coaching in the SEC. “When you get to a brand like the Power T, you have the ability to get into any door of any prospect. That’s where I can kick in my strength of being able to be relationship based and relationship tied. Having the opportunity to do that, you can see the fruits of our labor coming into play now.”

The ability to recruit was a big question when he made the way from Washington before last season. He had only ever coached on the West Coast, but has picked it up quick in the south through a relentless approach.
“Probably the biggest thing is really just be me,” Inge said. “Let them know what they are going to get every day and show them transparency. Also show them the vision we have in our room and our vision is to have a culture that fosters and embodies academic, athletic and personal excellence. And hold them to that and hold them accountable to our standard. I also told their parents this but there are going to be some days they get held to a higher standard than they did in their own home. But just know I’m going to love them like my life depends on it and I’m going to pray for them like the lord depends on it. And we are going to work and grow together.”
Inge details the lessons he learned playing at Iowa and how he molds his players through football.
