Brady Frederick, SoCon Pitcher of the Year, commits to Tennessee

Tennessee made a big splash with the transfer portal addition of Brady Frederick, who was named the Southern Conference Pitcher of the Year in 2025.
The sidearm, almost submarine, pitcher from the right side played a massive role in East Tennessee State sweeping both the SoCon regular season and tournament championships. The Bucs, in large part due to the former Bearden Bulldog, earned the No. 3 seed in the Nashville Regional this past season.
Frederick compiled an impressive 8-2 record with a 2.67 ERA and 0.88 WHIP in 2025, making 24 appearances out of the bullpen with no starts. The righty tossed starter-like innings with 77.2 on the year, striking out 76 batters while walking 19. The new Vol pledge allowed 25 runs (23 earned) on 50 hits and gave up a combined 23 extra-base hits on the campaign.
Against Tennessee in midweek action on March 18 at Lindsey Nelson Stadium, Frederick tossed 3.2 innings of relief, allowing two runs on two hits with four strikeouts and one walk. He logged three saves and maintained a 2.57 ERA and 4-1 record in conference games. Frederick became the first ETSU Buc to be named the SoCon Pitcher of the Year Award since the award’s inception.
The hurler was also named to the SoCon All-tournament Team and earned league Pitcher of the Week honors on two separate occasions. Frederick throws from the right side and stands in at 5-foot-11, weighing 190 pounds. He has two years of eligibility remaining.

Baseball Transfer Portal
The 2025 non-graduate transfer portal opened on June 2 and will remain open until July 1. Players must have their name entered in the transfer portal by July 1 if they want to move on, but new destinations do not have to be made by that time.
The Vols have benefited greatly from the transfer portal in recent cycles, reeling in the likes of Chase Dollander (2022), Griffin Merritt (2023), Maui Ahuna (2023), Zane Denton (2023), Billy Amick (2024), Cannon Peebles (2024), AJ Causey (2024), Chris Stamos (2024), Liam Doyle (2025), Andrew Fischer (2025) and Gavin Kilen (2025).
So far, Tennessee has three portal additions in right-handed pitchers Clay Edmondson (UNC Asheville), Mason Estrada (MIT) and Bo Rhudy (Kennesaw State). Tennessee has also added junior college players such as RHP Matt Barr (SUNY Niagara) and Tyler Myatt (Walters State) and picked up catcher Trent Grindlinger as a late add to the 2025 class in recent weeks.
Tennessee has lost three players to the transfer portal so far: INF Jack Jones, INF Robinson Martin and LHP Bryson Thacker.
