Franklin athlete Luke Thompson talks Tennessee official

Franklin athlete Luke Thompson was pumped to get an offer from Tennessee earlier this spring. He was in town this weekend for his official visit and continues to see all the positives of playing in Knoxville.
“It was an awesome experience,” Thompson said. “It was very very detailed. We had everything lined up back to back to back to back. We did have a break and I loved the break just because I could chill a little bit. Some things I liked was going on a the lake. I didn’t expect that. I went tubing with some of the dudes that I might be playing with.”
Thompson’s family went to Tennessee. They ran track, played football and cheered for the Big Orange. Following in their footsteps is something on his mind but it’s also his own decision.
“I think about what’s best for me and my decision going into football,” Thompson said. “It does play a factor because we do have connections here and we have just had a bunch of people.”
As for this weekend, he was able to see things from a different perspective and spend time with the staff.

“They like my speed and my ability to hit,” Thompson said. “They had meetings and wanted to me to know some plays like the basic stuff as a safety and stuff. One thing they want me to work on is my back pedal and just a bunch of basic DB drills.”
Thompson spent time with Josh Heupel and the entire staff. He loves the culture at Tennessee leaving the visit.
So where do things go from here?
“I’ll go home and discuss and make the best decision for me,” Thompson said. “Sometime before the dead period.”
