Oakland defensive back Craig Tutt was back in Knoxville this weekend for his Tennessee visit. As he left town, he caught up with Volquest to detail his time.

“I had a time. It was a time to definitely remember,” the safety said. “I enjoyed everything from the tubing to the race cars and to the time I spent with coach [Josh] Heup, coach [Tim] Banks and coach Nez [Willie Martinez] and the players. It was amazing.”

Tutt has taken trips to Auburn and Ole Miss in recent weeks. On this visit he went tubing and go-cart riding. He also spent time with the staff.

“It was different. This trip, I saw a lot more activity with the head coach. I saw coach Heup every single day,” Tutt said. “I was with coach Heup almost every day throughout the day. So, I had a time. That was something about the other visits – just the time the head coach spent with the recruits on the visit, definitely different.”

He has developed a good relationship with coach Chop and others. Tennessee continues to push hard in this recruitment.

Josh Heupel has made him feel wanted at Tennessee. He sat down with him on Sunday morning before his visit wrapped to hear the final sales pitch.

“What I like and me and my family like is the energy and time that he put in,” the recruited reflected. “Time is everything and you can build a great relationship in a short amount of time.”

As for a decision, Tutt doesn’t have a definitive timeline.

“There’s no one above the other. There’s two schools and I’m evaluating both of them. Hoping to make the best decision I can,” Tutt concluded. “The three things I am looking for is opportunity, stability and culture. I feel like all three of the schools have all three of those, so it is going to be a really hard decision for me to make.”
